Questa e’ una storia, nata tanto e tanto tempo fa’. Una di quelle storie che fanno commuovere, ma che alla fine ti lasciano un sorriso nel cuore . Una storia che ci insegna a non mollare mai i nostri sogni, anche se qualcuno fa di tutto per distruggerli. Un’insegnamento, che ci ricorda che nella vita c’e sempre qualcosa per cui lottare, per cui dare la vita stessa.
Ricordate? Tempo fa scrissi un’articolo(UN ITALIANO IN CERCA DI SUO PADRE INGLESE UNA STORIA TOCCANTE ITALOEUROPEO SI IMPEGNA NELLA RICERCA), riguardo al Signor Perlini che mi contatto’ personalmente chiedendomi se potevo aiutarlo a ritrovare una persona scomparsa, un militare scozzese: suo padre. Rimasi affascinato dalla sua storia. Mi colpi la voce tremante ma decisa di un uomo che non voleva altro che fare luce sul suo passato. Lui che per 14 anni fu rinchiuso in un orfanotrofio, voleva solo sapere chi fosse suo padre. Come mi ha sempre detto lui:” …Da qualcuno devo pur essere venuto, non mi interessa se scopro che mio padre e’ morto, ma vorrei sapere da dove vengo, se ho dei parenti ..”.
Tutto iniziò nel lontano autunno del 1944, sua madre che viveva a Castiglione dei Pepoli (Bologna) conobbe e si innamorò di un soldato scozzese delle Scots Guards di nome David Jackson militare in missione in quelle zone, durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Pochi mesi dopo si accorse di essere incinta, ma del soldato amato non ebbe piu notizia. Scomparve nel nulla. Di lui se ne sono occupati anche la trasmissione Chi la Visto? , giornali locali e nazionali, ma nessuno era riuscito ad accendere una speranza nel signor Perlini.
Mi feci recapitare a Londra tutto quello che riguardava suo padre e cioe’: una foto, un vecchio ritaglio di giornale, una approssimativa data di nascita e un vecchio indirizzo di Londra, che il padre lasciò alla madre nei primi incontri di amore. Subito scoprii che a quell’indirizzo non esisteva più nessu Jackosn . Mosso dallo spirito della sfida, mi misi in cammino per seguire ogni traccia su questa vicenda, scavando negli archivi inglesi, da Scotland Yard, al National England Archives. A metà della ricerca, Raffaella Matera di Termoli (Campobasso) genealogista per passione, decise di aiutare me e il Sig. Perlini. Lo contattò e raccolse i dati, ma c’era bisogno di un riscontro, e quindi entrò in contatto con membri scozzesi del forum di http://www.rootschat.com/ trovando persone disponibili . Grazie anche all’aiuto dello staff del Lanark Library, è riuscita a risalire al luogo e data di nascita di David Jackson, nonché ricostruire la storia della sua famiglia in Scozia, a Carluke precisamente. L’input decisivo, l’idea vincente è venuta dal retro del ritaglio di giornale dell’epoca che David Jackson lasciò alla donna italiana. Si è risaliti fino al luogo di origine ed a ottenere l’articolo completo pubblicato sul Carluke Gazette edizione del 19 Maggio 1944, ricco di dati informativi che hanno permesso il progresso della ricerca fino al successo completo.

David Jackson è purtroppo morto nel dicembre del 1994 nell’area londinese.
Ma la cosa piu entusiasmante é stato conoscere che Davide Perlini ha una sorella inglese, ancora viva la quale è stata felice di sapere dell’esistenza di un fratello italiano. Per Il signor Perlini, che per 60 anni ha pensato di essere figlio unico di padre ignoto, conoscere questa realtà, sapere che ha una sorella maggiore, è stato un tuffo al cuore, come rinascere per una seconda volta. Per loro ci sarà un primo contatto a breve ed entrambi sono emozionatissimi.
Una vicenda nata sotto le bombe della seconda guerra mondiale e terminata oggi. Io, L’Italoeuropeo, Raffaella Matera e tutte le stupende persone incontrate nell’ambito di questa ricerca, siamo tutti contenti di consegnare questa storia all’Italia e all’Inghilterra.
Oggi per L’Italoeropeo e’ un giorno speciale che non dimenticheremo mai……

This is a story, which started long time ago. One of these moving stories, that at the end leaves you smiling. A storythat teaches us, not to give up on our dreams, even if someone tries hard to destroy them. A lesson that reminds us, that in life there is always somethingto fight for, to sacrifice life itself.
Do you remember? Some time ago I wrote an article (AN ITALIAN IN SEARCH FOR HIS ENGLISH FATHER –A MOVING STORY-ITALOEUROPEO IS ON THE ACT FOR THE SEARCH) about Mr Perlini, who contacted mepersonally asking me if I could help him to find a missing person, a Scottishsoldier: his father. I was intrigued by his story. I was touched by the shakingbut determined voice, of a man who needed to shed light on his past. Thisperson who was in an orphanage for 14 years, wanted to know who his father was.As he always told me: ” I must have come from someone, it does not matter ifI discover that my dad is dead, however I would like to know where I come from,if I have relative”.
Everything started in the far autumn of1944, his mum was living in Castiglione dei Pepoli (Bologna), met and fell inlove with a Scottish soldier from the Scots Guards called David Jackson, asoldier sent to those regions, during the second world war. Few months latershe realized that she was pregnant, however she had no more news of the soldiershe loved. He had vanished. Even the Italian Tv programme “Chi l’ha visto?”, localand national newspapers tried to investigate, but nobody had managed to bringsome hope to Mr Perlini.
I was able to get everything deliveredto me in London, that had to do with his father: a photo, an old excerpt from anewspaper, an approximate date of birth and an old address in London, that thefather left to his mother in the first meetings. I discovered straight awaythat at that address no Jackson was living any longer. Determined, I started tofollow every trace of this event, digging in the English archives, fromScotland Yard to the National England Archives. In the middle of the search,Raffaella Matera from Termoli (Campobasso) a passionate genealogist decided tohelp me and Mr Perlini. She contacted Mr Perlini and collected the data, butshe needed some (riscontro) and therefore she got in touch withthe Scottish members from the forum http://www.rootschat.com whereshe found some willing people. Thanks to the help of the Lanark Library staff,she was able to trace the exact place and date of birth of David Jackson, andto rebuild the story of his family in Scotland, in Carluke to be precise. Thedecisive input, the winning idea came from the back of the newspaper excerptfrom the time that David Jackson left to the Italian woman. We went back to theplace of origins and we obtained the whole article published in the CarlukGazette edition of the 19th of May 1944, full of informative datathat has allowed the progress of the search until the complete success.
David Jackson has sadly died in the Decemberof 1994 in the London area.
However, the most fascinating thing wasto find out that Davide Perlini had a sister in London, still alive, who wasglad to know of the existence of an Italian brother. For Mr Perlini, who for 60years thought that he was an only child from an unknown father, to find outthis reality, to know that he has an older sister, was a , like to be bornagain. For them there will be in the short time a first meeting and both ofthem are very emotional.
An event born under the bombs of thesecond world war and which ended today. Myself, L’italoeuropeo, RaffaellaMatera and all the wonderful people we met searching, are all glad to deliverthis story to Italy and to England/UK.
