The State Opening of Parliament will take place on Wednesday 9 May 2012. State Opening marks the formal start of the new 2012-13 parliamentary session. Her Majesty The Queen will arrive at the Sovereign's Entrance at about 11.15am and will proceed to the Robing Room, where she will put on the Imperial State Crown and parliamentary robe.
The Queen began by stating that the legislative program for the coming year focuses on"economic growth, justice and constitutional reform." David Cameron's government will give priority to economic stability, said The Queen, adding that the government "will further strengthen regulation of financial services," or ask the banks to separate the retail operations from riskier investment banking divisions in an attempt to safeguard theBritish banks from any repetition of a global economic crisis.
The British government will present a draft proposing to allow intelligence agencies to have greater access to e-mail, websites and social networks as a measure to combatterrorism.The sovereign has also stated that his government "will continue to work with the 15 otherCommonwealth countries to push forward with reforms on the rules of succession", to allow the right of succession to the throne also first born females.
