Emmanuel Ray, named Britain’s First It Boy by the BBC, is the winner of Fashion Icon of the Year award at Fashions Finest Awards UK, held at the Gibson Hall in London’s Bishopsgate district last July, the event was created to support emerging talent in the British fashion industry while celebrating diversity at the same time. He currently publishes a montly column on five online publications such as Superstar Magazine, Break London Radio's website, The Style Column, Work in Fashion portal and My Kali Mag in Jordan writing about London life in general, fashion, gossip, celebrities and food, love and sex.
"Being nominated for this award by the British public and receiving the most number of votes makes me feel very wanted, thrilled and honoured," he said. After his straordinary success Emmanuel is now working on his first book that contains facts of his difficult past. His life has known war, terrorism, poverty “I used to be ashamed of my past but it was TV Presenter Lorraine Kelly who encouraged me to share my story, with pride,” says Emmanuel Ray.



“I am living proof that anyone can achieve anything in life, with hard work, perseverance and faith in themselves.” He went on to cover a variety of shows including London Fashion Week, Ideal Home show, Clothes Show Live film premiers at Bafta, celebrity parties, launch events. He hosted Nico Didonna's Spring Summer 2011 fashion show at Millennium Hotel Knightsbridge. He used his success to sensitize public awareness of sexual minorities in ethnic minorities, promoting peace and human right. Emmanuel Ray appeared on Brit Asia TV’s Broken Silence programme on Sky, discussing these issues and he was also part of the All Out campaign that successfully persuaded the Ugandan government to abandon the controversial Kill The Gays bill.

Emmanuel is also involved in the Ministry for Peace campaign in British parliament. “I never expected to win this award. Several people have helped me along my journey and I would not have a successful career without the immense support I have received from my audience,” said Emmanuel.
